Ragan finishes 25th in Martinsville

No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine Toyota driver David Ragan finished 25th in Sunday’s 500-lap NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Martinsville Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 28th and slowly worked his way to the front of the field, climbing to 12th at the halfway mark. Ragan used long green flag runs to claim fourth with 65 laps remaining. However, wall contact, then a spin, plus a flat tire dropped Ragan off the lead lap in the closing stages and left him with a 25th-place finish. Ragan and the No. 55 Aaron’s team returns to action Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway.

  • Started 28th and finished 25th
  • Climbed to 12th at halfway mark and fourth with 65 to go
  • Wall contact, a spin and a flat tire in the final stage ruined his chance for a good finish

RAGAN: “We had such a good Aaron’s Dream Machine today. But, it just kind of went from bad to worse in the end. We deserved so much better. We aren’t going to hang our heads. We’ll go to Texas and try to close one of these races out.”

  • Denny Hamlin, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Kyle Busch rounded out the top five
