GREENVILLE, S.C. – Chase Elliott will drive his No. 9 Aaron’s Dream Machine/Hendrickcars.com Chevrolet in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event at Greenville-Pickens Speedway on Oct. 27. This race originally was scheduled for Sept. 3, but was postponed due to inclement weather.
As the K&N Pro Series East points battle continues, Elliott enters the Greenville event ranked fourth in the 2012 championship standings, 32 points behind leader Kyle Larson.
“A part of you wants to pay attention to it,” Elliott said about the points race. “But realistically, if you go out and run the best you can, the points are going to figure themselves out and there’s nothing you can really do about it. Anybody that has watched racing knows it doesn’t matter until it’s all over.
“For us, we’re just focusing on the remaining K&N races this season and we’ll do our best to put ourselves in the right position to be there at the end of those races and be there when it counts. I think the points will figure themselves out.”
The Dawsonville, Ga., native has had previous success at the half-mile track. In three K&N Pro Series East career starts there, Elliott has posted three top-six K&N finishes. Most recently in March, Elliott finished sixth there.
In 2011, Elliott scored third- and fourth-place finishes at the half-mile track during his rookie K&N season. He also competed at Greenville racing late models in 2010 and took runner-up honors in October of that year.
Overall, Elliott has posted one win, nine top-five finishes and 15 top-10s in 26 career K&N Pro Series starts. In 12 K&N Pro Series East starts this season, he has posted one win, one pole award, five top-five finishes, eight top-10s and led a total of 70 laps.
Next up, Elliott will drive his No. 9 Aaron’s Dream Machine/Hendrickcars.com Chevrolet in the season finale NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway on Saturday, Nov. 3.
Now until Nov. 18, fans can submit their votes to help Elliott win Most Popular Driver in the K&N Pro Series East for the second year in a row. To vote, please visit www.nascar.com/news/120817/2012-mpd-kn-east/index.html.
