ROCKINGHAM, N.C. – Chase Elliott, driver of the No. 9 Aaron’s Dream Machine/Hendrickcars.com Chevrolet, will compete in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East season finale event at Rockingham Speedway on Nov. 3.
Elliott, 16, enters the Rockingham event ranked fourth in the 2012 championship standings. He trails leader Kyle Larson by 30 points.
Saturday afternoon’s 100-lap race will be the first stand-alone event in series history at Rockingham. However, Elliott has had previous success at the one-mile track. In the past two years, Elliott has posted two late model wins there in just three starts.
“Anytime you can go to Rockingham, no matter what kind of car you’re racing, is a lot of fun,” Elliott said. “I’ve been fortunate enough to race there a few times in the past few years. To go back there in a K&N car is definitely one of the races I have marked on my calendar, and I’m really looking forward to it.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun and that racetrack has a lot of history so I’m just excited. It’s one of my favorite racetracks to go race at and one of the fewer tracks on the K&N schedule that I have a little bit of experience at so I think that’s going to be really cool.”
This Saturday’s event will be broadcast on SPEED on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. ET.
The Dawsonville, Ga., native will complete his second full K&N Pro Series East season this Saturday at the historic Rockingham racetrack. In 27 career K&N Pro Series starts, Elliott has posted one win, 10 top-five finishes and 16 top-10s. In 13 K&N Pro Series East starts this season, he has posted one win, one pole award, six top-five finishes, nine top-10s and has led a total of 70 laps.
Elliott will participate in the K&N Pro Series East autograph session at Rockingham on Friday, Nov. 2 from 6-7 p.m. local time. For race updates, please follow Cindy Elliott on Twitter at www.twitter.com/CindyElliott9 and Megan Whiteside at www.twitter.com/MeganWhiteside.
