DOVER, Del. – Chase Elliott, driver of the No. 9 Aaron’s Dream Machine/Hendrickcars.com Chevrolet, will compete in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event at Dover International Speedway on Sept. 28.
Elliott, 16, enters the Dover race weekend ranked fourth in the 2012 K&N Pro Series East championship standings and trails leader Brett Moffitt by 13 points.
With one previous start at Dover, Elliott notes it as one of his favorite tracks to race on.
“It’s one of my favorite racetracks simply because it’s Dover,” Elliott said. “I think any driver that’s been to Dover is going to tell you it’s an awesome place. It’s just a very hammer-down racetrack. It’s very fast with a lot of banking, a lot of load, and it’s just one of those racetracks that catches your attention and one that will bite you if you are not paying attention, too. It’s just a cool place, and I’m sure any driver looks forward to going to Dover.”
During his rookie K&N Pro Series East season in 2011, Elliott started the event at the Monster Mile in the 11th position and steadily worked his way through the field. The Dawsonville, Ga., native had worked his way up to eighth by Lap 46, but unfortunately, he blew a tire exiting Turn 4 and made contact with the wall. Elliott was credited with a 29th-place finish.
This Friday’s 150-lap event will be broadcast on SPEED on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 3 p.m. ET.
In 11 K&N Pro Series East starts this season, Elliott has posted one win, five top-five finishes and eight top-10s. He also has led a total of 70 laps and won the pole once. Overall, Elliott has posted one win, one pole, nine top-five finishes and 15 top-10s in 25 career K&N Pro Series starts.
Elliott will participate in the K&N Pro Series East autograph session at Dover’s FanZone area on Sept. 28 from 1-2 p.m. local time. For race updates, please follow Cindy Elliott on Twitter at www.twitter.com/CindyElliott9 and Megan Whiteside at www.twitter.com/MeganWhiteside.
