Atlanta, GA. – This week, Aaron’s Inc. launches their 2012 NASCAR advertising campaign with comedic TV commercials featuring Aaron’s NASCAR drivers Mark Martin and Michael Waltrip. The TV commercials kick off Aaron’s 12th straight year as team sponsor of Michael Waltrip Racing.

“When I first read the scripts they made me laugh out loud, so I know people are going to love them”, said Mark Martin.
Ken Butler, Chief Operating Officer, Aaron’s Inc. said, “I knew right away that we really have something special to work with in the pairing of Mark Martin and Michael Waltrip. They couldn’t be more different. Mark is 5’6”, Michael is 6’5”. Mark is neat and organized; Michael is, let’s just say, neatness-challenged. Mark is serious, Michael is… never serious. They are truly an odd couple, with one very nice thing in common: They both love Aaron’s.”
“I don’t care who you are, when you see me and Mark side by side, it’s really funny”, said Michael Waltrip.
The first two commercials that initially air, from the series of six, feature Mark Martin and Michael Waltrip telling stories about how odd the other one is.
In one spot, Mark Martin is seen compulsively polishing his car’s headlight decals as Michael Waltrip points out, “That’s not real, buddy…”. In another spot, Mark Martin complains ‘I don’t understand Michael Waltrip at all…” as a deadpan Waltrip turns to reveal he has a trick arrow through his head. Another scene shows Waltrip eating potato chips, spilling crumbs all around while Martin is dust-busting him.
The commercials were shot recently, on location in Cornelius, NC at Michael Waltrip Racing’s facility. The spots were co-written, produced and directed by Aaron’s own, David Wolff, Director of Strategy and Creative Development. Wolff said about working with Martin and Waltrip, “I couldn’t be happier with their performances. Mark was really worried beforehand, but he is truly fantastic in the spots. Michael and I collaborated up front to develop the scenes. And I must say, he is a super-talented actor/comedian.”
Aaron’s has also posted at Aarons.com/TV the two new spots as well as two equally entertaining bonus commercials along with a making-of video of the shoot with Martin and Waltrip. Two more TV commercials are slated to be posted on the website in the next few week.
